Während ich zum 176. Mal Crimes anhöre sehe ich dass Tom Breihan einen Nachruf auf die Blood Brothers verfasst hat; darin beschuldigt er den Sufjan-Zeitgeist der mich dieses Jahr enorm angeödet und in die Arme vieler toller Rockplatten getrieben hat auf denen alles andere als geseufzt wird:
Still, I'm awfully tempted to blame the creeping Sufjanization that we've seen over the past couple of years. It's not an across-the-board thing, of course, but the dominant voice-tone in underground rock music isn't the strangulated scream anymore; it's the contented sigh.
Zwei höchst lesenswerte Features diese Woche auf Pitchfork: Zum Ersten ein ausführliches und irre faszinierendes Interview mit Doseone (Mastermind der skandalös unterbeachteten Subtle und Anticon/cLOUDDEAD-Mitglied) und zum Zweiten "Guest List"-Eintrag mit Thurston Moore der auch dem Großvateralter nahe offen für allerlei Neues und Obskures bleibt. Und tolle Anekdoten auf Lager hat:
J Mascis has the best ringtone, he just put his phone on top of his drum and then he just like whacked the drum with a drumstick and he recorded it onto his phone, so when his phone, well...rings, it actually just goes, "BABABABABA!"
Noch nicht gelesen habe ich das Interview mit Ricardo Villalobos auf Xlr8r, eine der seltenen Gelegenheiten mal was von ihm anstatt über ihn online zu lesen.
