Als ich im CMG Podcast zum ersten Mal ein Stück von The Foundry Field Recordings hörte, dachte ich zuerst es handele sich um ein Nebenprojekt von Built To Spill oder gar um ein unbekanntes Stück der Band selbst. Die Stimme, die trockenen Drums, eine klare und eine brummige Gitarre.. der Sound war verblüffend ähnlich.

Doch obwohl man noch mehr große Indie-Bands der 80er und 90er wie Modest Mouse oder Guided By Voices aus ihrem Sound heraushören kann hat die noch junge Band auf ihrem Debütalbum Prompts/Miscues ihre Musik weitaus vielfältiger gestaltet als die Bands die sie klar beeinflusst haben. Allein schon der Song Holding The Pilots/Holding The Facts beginnt mit discomäßigen Drumbeats, ist übersät von vorsichtig-fröhlichen "Huu-huu-huu"-Gesängen und endet mit Neutral Milk Hotel-mäßiger Bläsermelodie.
Vielfalt, dein Name ist Indierock.
