Nach ewig langem Warten gibt es nun endlich die komplette Fassung von Michaelangelo Antonionis The Passenger auf DVD. Und das Warten scheint sich gelohnt zu haben, unter anderem wartet die DVD mit einem Audiokommentar von Jack Nichsolson(!) auf. Mal sehen wie ich da dran komme...

Oh Gott, das größte deutsche Nachkriegstrauma wird wieder gnadenlos aufgewühlt. Nach dem musikalischen folgt jetzt das schauspielerische Comeback von David Hasselhoff, in Form von Knight Rider: Der Film. Und wie finden wir das? Genau!

And I had an opening party at the gallery I'd never seen 100 people get drunk so quickly. Now this has something to do with the cars on display. I also had a topless girl interviewing people on closed-circuit TV so that people could see themselves being interviewed around the crashed cars by this topless girl. This was clearly too much. I was the only sober person there. Wine was poured over the crashed cars, glasses were broken, the topless girl was nearly raped in the back seat of the Pontiac by some self-aggrandizing character. The show went on for a month. In that time they came up against massive hostility of every kind. The cars were attacked, widows ripped off. Those windows that weren't broken already were smashed. One of the cars was upended, another splashed with site paint. Now the whole thing was a speculative illustration of a scene in The Atrocity Exhibition. I had speculated in my book about how the people might behave. And in the real show the guests at the party and the visitors later behaved in pretty much the way I had anticipated.It was not so much an exhibition of sculpture as almost of experimental psychology, using the medium of the fine art show. People were unnerved, you see. There was enormous hostility.

Das wird wohl noch auf Wochen hinaus meine Last.FM Charts gehörigst rocken: Sunset Rubdown, das nicht-bloß-Nebenprojekt von Wolf Parades Spencer Krug, hat alle meine Erwartungen und Hoffnungen übertroffen und ist absolut großartig ausgefallen. Sein Debütalbum Shut Up I Am Dreaming schafft es, diese sagenhaften atmosphärischen Momente, die einen bei Wolf Parades Musik schon immer verfolgen, mit einer noch größeren Emotionalität zu fusionieren, und das begleitet von einer facettenreichen Instrumentalisierung die von sakraler Kirchenmusik zu mystischer Kirmesmusik reicht.

"I'm sorry anybody dies at all these days", versichert Krug mit zerbrechlicher Stimme im anfangs majestatischen Opener Stadiums And Shrines II, als sich die Musik gegen Ende ins intime verdreht hat. Es wäre insbesondere ein Schaden wenn Krug uns nicht lange erhalten bliebe, denn mit diesem Album hat er gezeigt dass er einer der großen Songwriter unserer Zeit istund hoffentlich wird er uns noch auf lange Zeit hinaus mit grandiosen Alben wie diesem beehren.
